Simple Sambo???

Steven Gilliard is a left-wing extremist who runs a site called the News Blog. He is also black. And he is a flaming, hypocritical racist. This doctored photograph, making Maryland GOP Senate candidate Michael Steele look like Step 'n Fetchit, is the living proof.

Isn't it fascinating how the very same people who endlessly and caustically and libelously denounce conservatives and Republicans as "racists" feel not the slightest compunction about smearing minorities who won't conform to the role and views that libs assign to them with the most flagrantly racist slurs and imagery imaginable? Can any fair-minded person fathom a conservative website publishing a Photoshopped pic of, say, Barack Obama in minstrel show blackface, or with stereotypically exaggerated facial features, or with vampire eyes?

And can you imagine what these people would do with a Condoleezza Rice presidential candidacy in 2008?

I don't know if Dick Morris made that particular argument in his new "Condi-Hillary" book, but it seems to me that would rank pretty high on the list. What better forum could there be to show the country just how ugly, vicious, extremist, and out of the mainstream the Left really is?

Gilliard's fellow-travelers should be vewy, vewy careful. Detestable guttersniping like this can only boost Mr. Steele's candidacy, and a burgeoning wave of imitators following the trail he's helping to blaze.
