Rising Star?
Here is the Left's "Rising Star," Barack Obama...elected only last year and already traveling to Iraq and giving his liberal opinion, and of course, trashing the United States and our efforts there like a good Democrat.
Senator Barack Obama on Saturday said the United States will not be successful in Iraq unless the political landscape better represents the country's minorities.
Obama, the nation's only black senator, met with U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on Saturday. He said before his two-day trip to Iraq that he wanted to ask U.S. commanders for a realistic time frame on bringing troops home.
"What I'm fully convinced of is if we don't see signs of political progress ... over a relatively short time frame - let's say six months or so - we can pour money and troops in here till the cows come home, but we won't be successful," said Obama, D-IL, who said he opposed the war before it began.
Do us all a favor, Barack. Shut up, come home, and attend Cindy Sheehan rallies.
JAS adds: One wonders if the Donks' wunderkind is aware that one of Iraq's "minorities" ruled that country with a bloody iron fist in one form or another for over seventy years. Ditto what he considers to be "signs of political progress," as though going from an occupied, war-torn shell to a constitutional democracy (in which ALL groups are representated and participating) in the space of eleven months doesn't count.
Barack Obama going to Baghdad and lecturing the Iraqis on their "lack of political progress" is like Lord North going to New York in 1794 and presuming to tutor the Washington Administration on how the Whiskey Rebellion was proof that American democracy was a failure because it was trampling on tory rights.
I don't know what Senator Obama drinks, but I hope President Talabani gave him a case of it for his return trip. Might make him a bit more lucid.
