What A Man!
Found this over at NewsMax:
Wisconsin Sen. Russell Feingold accused fellow Democrats on Tuesday of cowering rather than joining him on trying to censure President Bush over domestic spying.
"Democrats run and hide" when the administration invokes the war on terrorism, Feingold told reporters.
This is hilarious, especially since Feingold fled the Senate chamber when Frist called his bluff. Rush had the sound bites yesterday, here is the transcript:
SPECTER: I think all would concede that the president is doing the best job he can, and is diligent. You may not agree with him, may not think his best job is satisfactory, but no one has ever accused him of bad faith. In the absence of any showing of bad faith, who has standing to censure and condemn the president and then not stay in the chamber to debate the issue?
RUSH: Yes. You see, that is key. Feingold fled after offering his censure movement. He fled the Senate! He fled the Senate floor, and Specter called him out on it. Specter said, "Come on. Come on back and debate this. Let's debate this and have a vote." Up next Senator Lieberman.
When Feingold said "Democrats run and hide," that was AFTER he chickened out of the ridiculous "debate" he started. What a coward.
Here are Lieberman's comments, by the way:
LIEBERMAN: This is a critically important program to the prevention of terrorist acts here in the United States, and I don't know a person here in the Senate who is against this program.
That's right, none of them have the guts to come out against it, because they KNOW it is one of the tools that has kept us safe for the past 5 years. They are simply, once again, using a national security issue to hammer the President with. They show their true selves every time, though. They can't seem to help it. As Jim mentioned in another post, WHERE do they find all those rakes to step on?
