The Berger Files
This gets more disturbing every time I read about it. To think that this criminal has gotten off near scot-free is outrageous. From Opinion Journal, this paragraph in particular is glaring:
One incident is particularly suggestive. By his fourth and final visit to review documents and prepare for testimony before the 9/11 Commission, the Archives staff had grown suspicious of how Mr. Berger was handling the documents, so they numbered each one he was given in pencil on the back of the document. When one of them--No. 217--was apparently removed from the files by Mr. Berger, the staff reprinted a copy and replaced it for his review. According to the report, Mr. Berger then proceeded to slip the second copy "under his portfolio also." In other words, he stole the same document twice.
If you haven't yet read the House Government Reform Committee report regarding this yet, be sure and do it. If ever there was a clear-cut case of "I'm a Democrat, so the media will let me get by with this," this is it. Have either of the Clintons made any comments regarding Berger and this mess? I don't remember anything. He was probably acting on direct orders from them, but that's something else we'll never know.
Oh, and by the way Jim, hijack my posts anytime!
JASmius: Okay, since you so graciously offered....
If Sandy Berger (and his master and mistress, respectively) were Republican, is there any doubt in anybody's lucid mind that Hillary Clinton's presidential ambitions would be deader than Gerald Ford right now?
And will any Republican presidential candidate raise a stink about this and hang Berger the Burglar around Medusa's thick, waddly neck?
That's my version of a blue plate special, BTW: two rhetorical questions for the price of one....
