Why The GOP Will Remain In The Minority For Years To Come
Kansas Senator Sam Brownback - you know, the conservative's conservative, self-styled - has flip-flopped in the wrong direction on boosting troop levels in Iraq.
Seeing as how Brownback never had a chance in hell of winning the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, I see this dispiriting, infuriating waffling on THE paramount issue of our time as being more damaging to the party's image at large vis-a-vie its already disaffected, disgruntled base. If the supposedly most "conservative" candidate in the '08 field is fleeing to the cut & run tall grass a year before the first primary votes are cast, it does not bode well for rallying the grassroots at the congressional level in the next go-round.
Maybe Brownback can pre-emptively name Dennis Kucinich as his running mate. They appear to be on the same page regarding the WAIF.
