Yet another Republican's guts turn to mush...

In Albuquerque today, Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM), a six-term incumbent who faces re-election next year, said he was "unwilling to continue our current strategy" in Iraq.

The baffling thing is, the GOP base is willing to "continue our current strategy". Insists on it, as a matter of fact. So why does Domenici think that aping the Donks is going to help him get re-elected? Besides, he won in 2002 by thirty points, if I recall correctly. Unless Bill Richardson is planning to relinquish the New Mexican governorship to challenge him, I can't fathom why he'd be this fearful.

Must be the Beltway Bubble Syndrome again. {*sigh*}
