Kerry would subordinate US foreign policy to the UN *and* the United Federation of Planets?

John Kerry's "global test" gaffe is hurting him, judging by his characteristic attempt to try and "nuance" it yesterday.

"[I]f they were honest enough to give America the full quote, which America heard, they would know that I'm never going to allow America's security to be outsourced. That's the job of the president.

"But I can do a better job of protecting America's security because the test that I was talking about was a test of legitimacy, not just in the globe, but elsewhere."

Every time he freelances he ends up sounding like an idiot. Maybe he needed a flashing red light in front of him to control his penchant towards verbal diarrhea.

In any case, the "full quote" was mutually contradictory. "Passing a global test" is "outsourcing American's national security," and Kerry knows it, or he wouldn't have been backpedaling on it.

But if we are going to seek interstellar allies, I would much prefer the Klingon Empire to the Federation. Just the look on Abu Musab Zarqawi's face as a horde of bat'leth-wielding Klingon warriors came barreling toward him, bellowing, "DaHjaj 'oH QaQ jaj Daq Hegh!!!" ("Today is a good day to die!!!") would be worth the price of admission.
