Of Hacks And Men
If Dirty Harry Reid, Senate MINORITY Leader, had the brains to realize the toe-curling irony of the dimwitted nonsense he spews, he might afford himself a chuckle as he vomited it anyway.
I can only draw this particular conclusion from the way he pissed in the face of Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan the other day:
Asked Thursday his reaction to Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan's insistence this week that Social Security must be transformed, preferably along lines urged by Bush, Reid replied:
"I'm not a big Greenspan fan. ... I voted against him two times. I think he's one of the biggest political hacks we have in Washington," Reid said on CNN's Judy Woodruff's Inside Politics.
Well, now we have Reid's answer to what he thinks of Alan Greenspan. Unfortunately that's not the question Judy asked him. Which suggests that Reid had nothing to say about Social Security reform or Chairman Greenspan's recommendations on the issue.
And that is what is emblematic of the post-Clinton American Left in 2005. They've lost all the debates on the merits and the substance, and all they have left to offer is personal invective.
And that is the very epitome of political hackery.
What's that old schoolyard taunt? "Takes one to know one."
