Extreme Projection

As we're all going to be reminded anew over the next three-plus years, nobody shovels the BS like Hillary Clinton.

New York Senator Hillary Clinton is warning contributors that "the right-wing attack machine" is preparing to "'bloody' me up" with a series of ads reminiscent of last year's Swift Boat campaign against John Kerry.

"You won't be surprised to learn that Republicans have named me their "'#1 target' in 2006," she says in a mass e-mail this week.

Heh. A "#1 target" against whom the only candidate who might stand a ghost of a chance of not drowning in "blue" - Rudy Giuliani - is looking at the New York governorship in '06 instead.

"The right-wing attack machine is already warning that they will use the same smear tactics against me that they have used against other Democrats who stand in their way.

"Right-wing attack machine"; yep, that's standard Clintonoid propaganda boilerplate. Not for the first time do I wish something like that actually existed, much less came close to matching the Arkansas Mafia's effective prowess.

Oh, before I forget, here's the punchline:

The impending Republican assault, says Clinton, makes it imperative that she raise as much campaign cash as possible - asap.

That's from the same woman who claims money is not and never has been a motivating factor in her entire legal/political career, don't forget. So give generously. Then maybe you'll see more of the real Hillary emerge:

If she's able to fight off Republican attacks, Clinton pledges that in her second term she'll push for the right of felons to vote and resume her crusade for health care reform.

I wish that were an April Fool's gag. Otherwise maybe it wouldn't remind me so much of Halloween.
