Love Letters

A letter to Senator Dick

Durbin, that is.

My father served faithfully and honorably in the US Air Force during the 1950s [ED: as did mine]. Your recent comments likening the behavior of our troops to Nazis; and suggesting the luxurious living conditions granted Islamofascist terrorist thugs bent on killing Americans, are the equivalent of the infamously evil Soviet Gulag; are an affront to the men and women of all eras who have served in our military forces. You owe all of them an apology, followed by your immediate resignation from your office. You, sir - and I give you the benefit of the doubt as to the appropriateness of that title, despite the fact you have given our military heroes no such benefit - are not fit to serve this country, which you have slandered. Your cowardly, self-serving, deranged blatherings have the very effect of doing what you claim to be so worried about: tarnishing America's image abroad.

I despise you, sir. The difference is, you have done much to deserve my low esteem of you, while those you have slandered deserve much better, both in words from you, and in service from someone else filling your position.

Resign now. It is the only chance you have of showing any grace and honor in this mess of your own making.

A Military Father’s Response to Senator Durbin and the Democrat Party

I am revolted by Senator Durbin’s remarks comparing the detention center in Gitmo with a death camp.

I have a daughter at Ft. Hood Texas with orders to the Middle East within the next 30 days. To boot, her husband ALSO has orders to the ME and my wife and I will be raising their children for the next year, and permanently if something should happen to them while they’re putting their lives on the line to serve this great country, and that’s my pleasure and my honor.

I figure I have a dog in this Senator Durbin fight.

“Facts are stubborn things.” How true Mr. Adams was when he voiced that statement.

I’m here to tell Senator Durbin and his America hating compatriots in the Democrat Party something.

AMERICAN WARS SET MEN FREE!!!....

Does the “esteemed” Senator actually compare our prisoner system and guards to the Islamic monsters that we’re fighting the WAR against?? I hear total silence on the subject of the thousands that they’ve kidnapped, tortured and murdered. What was the “good” senator’s opinion of Margaret Hassan’s body when it was found in Fallujah? It was found decapitated with all arms and legs cut off. She was butchered like a lamb to the slaughter and the Senator said not a word!

Democrats don’t CARE about anybody. They USE people for their own partisan political ends. There’s no lie they won’t tell. It’s what they do. It’s their nature to lie like it’s a dogs’ nature to bark.

The Democrat Party has gotten to the point where they’re led by nothing but foaming at the mouth liberals who hate America with a passion that burns white hot. They are only too happy to be used as propaganda tools by the enemies of America. Senator Durbin’s remarks have been picked up by Al-Jazeera and broadcast around the Arab world over and over and over until it becomes truth, much the same as Newsweek’s flushed Koran story was. I’m sure that like Newsweek, Senator Durbin will issue a useless apology that nobody will pick up on, allowing the damage done to America’s reputation and prestige stand.

This puts the lives of American servicemen at risk, including my daughters’ and son-in-laws’ lives, and gives aid and comfort to the enemies of America.

The Republican Leadership won’t say it, neither will the Republican rank-and-file, but I’ll say it: Senator Durbin and his fellow Democrats are seditious, treasonous SOB’s who give aid and comfort to the enemy. They need psychiatric examinations for the delusions that they live under.

A coerced apology is a non-apology. The Democrats will say that he’s been misquoted and that what he spoke was the truth and his words were taken out of context and “everyone does it”. They’ll trot out all the usual suspects to tell us isn’t such a bad thing and it’s something that everybody knows but nobody will talk about.

Senator Durban’s non-apology apology isn’t enough for me. That such a man is serving in a leadership position in the United States Senate is a black mark against the United States government.

Nothing short of Senator Durbin’s resignation will satisfy me. His resignation and those of like-minded people in the government are the only things that will protect my daughter and her husband as they work to protect us and above all, America.

We'll talk Geneva Convention abuses some other time, K?

Dick Durbin is a glow in the dark piece of crap who, before the years end, will be - in my mind - responsible for unnecessary deaths of US soldiers, and more.

Fuck him also.

Send these appeasement-felching senators out with a Navy frigate on a six month deployment to the Indian Ocean. Then when the A/C decides to take a dump...which usually happens a few times during deployment...they can cry like the little bitch asses they are before begging the CO to drop 'em off at Diego Garcia.

Even better...send them out on a carrier (again in the IO)...assigning them with a berthing compartment rack just beneath the flight deck. Then give them the task of constantly running back and forth across a 100+ degree flight deck for 10 hours.

This is only a small sample of what some of our Navy personnel go through every day while out on deployment.

These cocksuckers need to shut.the.fuck.up.

Well, I'll take a wild guess in the dark, but judging by the above I'd say Turban Durbin would make a lot of people happy - not to mention doing his party a hugely needed favor - if he opted for a change of careers in the very near future.

UPDATE: Double H found two more gems....

POW Blasts Durbin

Senator Durbin,

As one who was held in a North Vietnamese Prison for nearly seven years and whose definition of torture and bad treatment is somewhat at variance with yours, I deplore your senseless comments about alleged "barbaric treatment" at our terrorist detention facility at Guantanamo.

Your remarks comparing Guantanamo to the regimes of Stalin, Hitler and Pol Pot are outrageous. I tried to think of why a rational human being could make such an outlandish statement but I keep coming up short. I thought I'd seen it all when Howard Dean performed his infamous scream in Iowa but your diatribe yesterday eclipsed Dean's moment of Hannibal Lecter lunacy. And your moment of pique will be infinitely more damaging to members of our Armed Forces serving in harm's way.

I noted, when searching for your contact information, that the first item Google came up with was al Jazeera's joy at your comments. You, sir, for having aided and abetted the enemy in time of war, have been relegated in my mind to the status of Jane Fonda and your colleague, John Kerry as contemptible traitors.

I hope not too many of our valiant members of the Armed Forces have to suffer for your stupid comments. Shame on you.

Sincerely,

Paul E. Galanti
Commander, U.S. Navy (Ret.)

And these two at Blackfive:

Senators,

I am currently deployed to Kosovo as a member of Task Force Falcon, Multi-National Brigade-East, NATO KFOR. At home I am a teacher in the Kerman Unified School District, providing quality instruction in U.S. History and English/Language Arts to wonderful eighth graders whom I love dearly. I have served in the U.S. Army, Army Reserve, and California Army National Guard for 24 years.

I am currently on orders for 545 days on this contingency operation (Operation Enduring Freedom/Joint Guardian), which means that I will miss everything that my family does for the next nine months (at least), possibly longer if I am redeployed to another contingency operation, or extended here.

I share the preceding information as a preamble to the subject of this email, so there will be no mistake as to my position, or credibility.

The recent comments of Senator Durbin in reference to the conditions for inmates at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility are as detestable as anything I have ever heard or read concerning members of the of the United States military. By now these comments have been quoted or aired enough that I need not repeat them here.

The senator's remarks, while apparently intended to apply to only a small number of us, actually hit ALL of us squarely in the heart. To compare any member of the U.S. armed forces with the murderous thugs who ran Hitler's camp system, the Soviet Gulag, or who gleefully slaughtered entire populations in Cambodia, is an affront to all men and women of our military.

Does Senator Durbin really mean to imply that WE are thugs and murderers? Does he really mean to imply that WE treat our prisoners in the same manner, as say, the totenkopfverbande treated prisoners at Sobibor, Belzec, Treblinka, or Auschwitz? Does he really mean that?

If the good senator really does intend to convey this message, then I suggest that he read Eugen Kogon's excellent and heartbreaking study of the Nazi camp system, titled The Theory and Practice of Hell. I think he should read it, and then decide whether or not his comparisons are entirely accurate. I would also like to suggest that Senator Durbin read Alexander Solzhenitsyn's The Gulag Archipelago, or Children of Cambodia's Killing Fields by Kim DePaul and the late Dith Pran.

We men and women who serve in the armed forces are NOT the jackbooted tyrants that some people seem hell-bent to depict us as. We are many things, but we are not evil. Implications to the opposite effect serve only to undermine and demoralize us as we try with all our hearts to carry out our missions to make the world a better place. If Senator Durbin or any other lawmaker would like to see evidence of, or hear testimony about what we really do, then I suggest a trip to Kosovo. Ask the people here what they think of America and our soldiers. You might be surprised.

In conclusion I would like to remind you that many of the men and women currently running the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay come from the California Army National Guard. They are upstanding and honorable citizens of the state of California, and the United States of America. They are members of the greatest force for peace, or war, that the world has ever seen. I personally know many of them, and they are absolutely not as Senator Durbin portrays them.

Senators, I beg of you, stand up for them. Do not allow these reprehensible statements by one of your colleagues to go by the board without censure. He must
be called to task on this.

The Honorable [heh] Richard Durbin
United States Senate
332 Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington, D. C. 20510

Dear Senator Durbin,

As a combat aviator veteran of Vietnam and retired Naval Officer, I must express in the strongest possible terms my disappointed in your condemnation and vilification of our military personnel serving in Guantanamo Bay. Your comments from the Senate floor, supposedly heard off the record, speak further to you and your party’s true disdain and dislike of our military heroes. Comments like yours tear the hearts out of our fighting hero’s just as surely as physical wounds received in combat. In my perspective, this is no different from those who yelled “baby killers” to our troops when we return home in the 60’s and 70’s.

My anger, frustration and disappointment in you as an elected senator is your comparison of treatment received by the terrorist killers in detention in Gitmo to those innocent victims murdered by the Nazis during WWII. How dare you even mention the mass murders in Cambodia?

Would you say these same comments, so vividly expressed recently on audiotape, to the likes of Jessica Lynch? To the Pearle family? To those families of the Jews murdered in Europe? That was bad treatment! I believe there are still a few elected officials in congress that could explain “bad” treatment to you.

By the way, ask our tank commanders about air conditioning in their war fighting vehicles. Or our Marines & Soldiers in their hummers! Have you ever been enclosed in the confines of a war fighting ship? We treat those damn terrorists better than we treat our fighting heroes. What a stupid, uninformed and ridiculous statement.

In the past I have given you the benefit of the doubt as a courtesy to a large and proud family of Illinois voters who has supported you and the democrats in the past.I will pledge that efforts are underway to cancel any support to you and your party. We don't want any apology. As you know, they are only words.

Sincerely,

F. R. Koenig

I would seriously advise the left-wingnuts to reconsider their seditious, prematurely gleeful celebrating of their latest drone. They may just have started something that they will not be able - or allowed - to finish.
