California Guard Targeted Over Pig-Blood Flier

AP via Yahoo ^ July 13, 2005

SACRAMENTO, California - Islamic leaders and peace groups are criticizing the California National Guard for a flier posted in its headquarters suggesting the United States execute Islamic terrorists with bullets dipped in pig's blood to deny them entry to heaven.

So what’s new? Groups such as those mentioned are constantly ‘criticizing’ America’s Military, America’s Government, America’s Institutions, and the American People. Why do anything to avoid the criticism? We’re going to get blasted anyway, no matter what we say or do, so why pay attention to anything the anti-American groups say.

A sidebar: Why is it that when Islamic lunatics, ‘peace’ groups, and other anti-American Democrats, express their disapproval of what our side says or does, it’s called "criticising," but when our side expresses disapproval of these groups, it’s called "attacking"? Another thing: What is it with this description "execute"? All that was proposed was to dip bullets in pig’s blood for use by our military in self-defense against attacks launched by rabid lunatics. The actual word used suggests our troops are committing murder on unarmed innocents lined up against a wall. Surely nothing more than an innocent error committed by a deeply anxious, sincerely concerned reporter merely trying to do his job. Right. The only problem with that theory is that this sort of ill-use goes on all the time.

The flier attributed the practice to World War I General John J. Pershing.

"Maybe it is time for this segment of history to repeat itself, maybe in Iraq?" the flier stated. It was posted outside a cubicle in the Guard's Civil Support Division.

A story that’s been around for a century. The stuff of legend, it can be neither confirmed or disproved, but it bespeaks of an American spirit determined not to yield to the Islamic lunacy of a century ago. You think this war has been going on only since 11 September? Or even since 1993? It’s been going on for fifteen hundred years.

A second flier showed the wings and tail of a bomber forming a peace sign with the slogan, "Peace the old fashioned way."

"Peace through strength." Shades of Ronald Reagan! What’s wrong with that? Nothing, except those who side with the lunatics and against America, don’t like it because it speaks a truth they can’t deal with.

Also posted was a cartoon from a Web site showing a Red Crescent ambulance stuffed with weapons and a caricature that looks like the late-Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat unloading the weapons.

Oh, the horror of it all! The cartoon represents a truth widely reported about known incidents which have happened (with or without Arafat) countless times. Those Guardsmen have a lot of nerve going around posting the truth.

Guard spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Doug Hart at first defended the postings to the San Jose Mercury News, which reported them Tuesday, but Hart later said they had been removed.

Defending the eminently defensible. Good for Lieutenant Colonel Hart. Who ordered the posters removed (bet it wasn’t Lieutenant Colonel Hart)? Whomever it was, he should be reduced to his permanent rank and cashiered out of the service.

Peace activists spotted the fliers during a tour last week.

The tour came after peace groups and a state senator questioned whether a new Guard unit had been formed to spy on U.S. citizens and had monitored a Mother's Day anti-war rally. A federal investigation of the allegations is underway.

Anti-American groups ought to be monitored so they can’t later lie about what they said or did at their protest rallies.

"It's troubling to see a governmental organization dedicated to the security of our country promoting culturally and religiously insensitive ideas," said William Youmans, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Santa Clara. "It's very possible to combat terrorism without offending the cultural values of a major world religion."

Apparently, it’s not possible to insist that gratuitous allegations must have some fragment of factual support before they are dignified with an investigation. If that’s the standard for investigations, then FReepers could bury every Congressional office and every Federal Department, commission, and Agency with thousands of allegations, all of which would bear up better under inspection than the lies of anti-American lunatics. But, of course, FReepers would be ignored (the attempt would be made to ignore us anyway).

It’s just amazing how so many people nod their heads and raise their voices in smug approval of outright lies, but howl in outrage when the truth is spoken. They may protest "culturally and religiously insensitive ideas," but they don’t seem to be able to do it without offending the cultural values of an entire world civilization.

Friends:

Last month Oprah Winfrey's magazine, O, printed an article by David France called "Love and Terror" in which the author proceeded to show us how romantic terrorism can be.The article was a disgusting piece of pro-terror propaganda. (Please see my archives for my e-mails on this subject)

I know hundreds, if not thousands, of you sent e-mails and letters protesting this article. Yet, the latest issue of O doesn'tprint a SINGLE letter on this subject. Not one of us received the simple courtesy of an acknowledgement. And those who sent snail mail had it returned unopened with a sticker whichsaid: "Undeliverable." This sticker didn't come from the Post Office, we checked.

Editor Amy Gross must share much of the responsibility for the stupid, contemptuous decision made to ignore our heartfelt and justified outrage, a decision which demeans her subscribers. Not only that, but the current issue of O has another outrageous piece in which vicious murderers who killed a young family, and a young girl are interviewed, and "understood."

If Oprah felt not being let into Hermes after hours was one of the most humiliating things that ever happened to her, then I think we need to devise a way of making her andher staff feel some embarrassment over what she has done here to humiliate her readers, and victims of terror and murder everywhere.

The silence of the lambs is over.
