The Pals' Special Dispensation

I have no explanation for this; I really don't.

In "Presidential Determination No. 2005-27,” President Bush stated [Mon]day that:

“[P]ursuant to section 603 of th[Middle East Peace Commitments] Act, regarding noncompliance by the PLO and the Palestinian Authority with certain commitments, I hereby impose the sanction set out in section 604(a)(2), "Downgrade in Status of the PLO Office in the United States."

In the next paragraph, however, President Bush stated that:

“Furthermore, I hereby determine that it is in the national security interest of the United States to waive that sanction, pursuant to section 604(c) of the Act.”

Thus freeing up the $9 billion of aid earmarked at the G8 summit for the Palestinian terror state.

Well does the Cap'n observe:

Cooperating with Hamas, Fatah, and the terrorist-supporting Palestinians by granting them a sovereign state and billions of dollars in foreign aid amounts to giving Afghanistan back to Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar. We will do nothing but create another terrorist state, and our insistence on allowing Fatah and Hamas to operate as political parties and negotiating partners only encourages terrorists in the region to demand the same recognition without disarming first.

Don't ask me what GDub is thinking. Maybe if Mahmoud al-Zahar masterminds the demolition of the Sears Tower the President will finally see the Palestinian Taliban through the same prism as its embattled al Qaeda cousin. Doesn't seem like anything short of that will make a dent in that entirely arbitrary and artificial partition.

I wonder how long it will take some of that boodle to end up in bin Laden's pocket.
