"Running" For the Supreme Court
From the "letting the cat out of the bag" file:
Brothers and sisters, if that doesn't burn into the public record how the Democrats view the role and purpose of the Judicial Branch of government, nothing will.
Pity nobody asked Senator Bayh his opinion on the repeal of the Seventeenth Amendment. Given the makeup of Indiana's legislature, I think his enthusiasm for narrow electorates, if not enema-ing politicking where it doesn't belong, would be suddenly and dramatically reduced.
"You wouldn't run for the United States Senate or for governor or for anything else without answering people's questions about what you believe. And I think the Supreme Court is no different." — Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN), CNN Inside Politics, July 25, 2005
