The Democrats' Rising Star?

Oh, my goodness. Read these words of wisdom:

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) addressed the 35th annual legislative conference of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, a non-profit group that lobbies the 43 black members of Congress and others to enact legislation for social, economic and educational development.

"Generation after generation of inner-city blacks have been stuck in a cycle of poverty and crime," said Obama. "For this I blame President Bush."

"Sure, the government provides homes for poor blacks, but they're only apartments," complained Obama. "These homes have cable TV, but it's only basic cable. The government gives them food stamps, but we let them waste them on junk food or trade them for liquor and cigarettes."

"These wretched conditions lead too many blacks to hopeless lives of crime and substance abuse," Obama continued. "Shamefully, most of the crimes are committed against other blacks. We need a program to more equitably distribute the victimization to non-minorities and upper-class neighborhoods."

Obama urged conference attendees to get behind his "Crime Equalization Act" -- legislation that would provide funding to disperse some of the worst criminal elements currently concentrated in minority neighborhoods more evenly across the nation.

Where to start? "Generation after generation" of blacks have been suffering and it's George W. Bush's fault? He's complaining that the government gives them apartments, cable T.V., and food stamps? He calls those conditions "wretched?" Black on black crime is Dubya's fault, even though it has been that way for lo, the entire time the Democrats were in power? He wants to "equitably distribute" the victimization?

I must admit, I'm flabbergasted at this utter stupidity from the man who has been touted as a rising star in the Democratic party, their hope for the future, blah blah blah. Man, if that's the truth, they are in worse shape than I thought. I must look further into this "Crime Equalization Act." Is he truly proposing that we take gang members out of ghetto neighborhoods and redistribute them to, like, the Hamptons, in order for there to be more "equitability" in crime? Is that not taking equality just a little too far? Now he even wants there to be equality among criminals? I can see the protest signs now, "Criminals Have Rights Too!" "Have You Hugged A Gang Member Today?" No doubt there will be enlightened professors with furrowed brows and concerned looks telling us how just putting these thugs into nicer neighborhoods will straighten them out.

Just when I thought Nagin was the dumbest man in the world, along comes Obama...

JAS adds: heartfelt thanks to Jen for posting this Obama quote. I haven't laughed this hard in a long, long time. A great way to start out the new week.

A Seahawks blowout of the Arizona Cardinals would be appreciated as well, but that's Mike Holmgren's job....
