Cream For Brains
Who's the racist? Bryant Gumbel on his HBO show Real Sports:
GUMBEL: The winter games. Count me among those who don't like 'em and won't watch them. In fact, I figure when Thomas Paine said, "These are the times that try men's souls," he must have been talking about the start of another winter Olympics. Because they're so trying, maybe over the next three weeks we should all try, too, by trying not to be incredulous when someone attempts to link these games to those of the ancient Greeks who never heard of skating or skiing. So try not to laugh when someone says these are the world's greatest athletes, despite a paucity of blacks that makes the winter games look like a GOP convention.
What difference does it make what color the athletes are, Bryant? I suppose you want some sort of Olympic Affirmative Action program. Isn't it amazing how Leftists can say outrageous things like the above and never be called on it, but you let a Republican slip up and BAM! There's the media to make him or her out to be the devil incarnate.
JASmius adds: Maybe not like "a GOP convention," but certainly Gumbel's bedroom, if the paucity of pigmentation in his wife is any indication.
Not that there's anything wrong with that - his wife is hot beyond belief - but doesn't it beggar a black man's credibility to play the race card when his own personal choices belay that presumed stance? Or couldn't Gumbel find a "sister" who was good enough for him?
