Hamas Won A Long Time Ago

Until I can get more of our contributors actually contributing, I will take the liberty of reposting their seeders from RepublicanForum.com.

Here is Kay Ryan's latest installment.

So many editorials about the "shock"..the plight of Israel..no hopes for Peace; I wasn't surprised one bit. Just like in Lebanon, where Hezbollah used "Democracy" to further their dasterdly goal, so too, Hamas used this election to capitalize on the discredited, corrupt Fatah Party that under Arafat's leadership ripped off the people for billions from charitable foreigners. Hamas has been in charge since Arafat died. The sons and daughters of Palestinian parents, lined up to kill Jews and themselves by strapping sucide belts around their bodies. Arafat whispered in their dear little ears for decades..in schools, all the way through college they were told to destroy Israel. "Leave no Jew alive in the Holy Land."

What now? No one will talk to these militants..rightfully so. There's a political wing of Hamas just as in Hezbollah..there will be a tug of war over whether or not to take the political road and appropriate to the Palestinians the creature comforts they've been without for decades; OR to persist in pushing Israel into the sea, bombing innocent civilians and depriving the Palies of any semblance of a normal life, BUT perhaps, rallying their nationalism through aggressive violence and militancy that will surely result in a WAR with Israel.

Either way, Hamas has to perform..they must provide the People that voted for change and better life, with exactly that...Hamas will have to build apartment buildings and roads; create jobs that don't end in an explosion and generally improve the standard of living for their constituency..(Hmmm,or what?) We are talking about a terrorist organization that doesn't take kindly to rejection..they won't be simply voted out? What other group could take them on? (Israel/USA?)

Unfortuneately, the Palies are stuck with Hamas...they'll do whatever they want and won't give a hoot about public opinion..I read that word was out in Palestine that if any person objected to Hamas politicking, they'd be killed. Soooo, one has to wonder how "free" this election really was and, if Abbas were a stronger, more effective leader, would Hamas have won in a landslide?
