Bordering On Disaster

[posted by Kay Ryan]

Amidst all the expected-reflexive left wing critique of El Presidente's split-solution to the illegal Mexican Immigration crisis (of our own making); on C-SPAN this morning, I listened to a resonable, convincing explanation for the deployment of the National Guard to the Southern Border by the chief of Border Patrol, David Aguilar.

The National Guard has been coordinating with the Border Patrol for 2 decades. Contrary to the "Guard is stretched too thin" gripe, each Border State has more than sufficient numbers of Guardsmen to fill the order and those men will be familiar with the particular alien problems of their home region. The Guard will serve in a support capacity and will leave the law enforcement duties to the Patrol. However, the added Military technology(motion censors, communications etc.) and the building of modern infrastructure, i.e detention centers, a fence in urban areas and so forth, will be an immediate force multiplier and will, at long last, devote government funding and Congressional attention to the pleas of American citizens to ENFORCE THE LAW.

The Guest Worker Program is a lot more problematic and really shouldn't be discussed until the Border is TRUELY under CONTROL. The plan is to provide each migrant with a tamper proof biometric ID card($Yikes!!) and for Immigration and Customs Enforcement(ICE) which is the agency responsible for interior enforcement, to apply the laws and penalties against employers who hire illegals. The millions of illegals living and working here are offerred a convoluted, time release, path to citizenship..if they can find it, afford it or dare to risk the status quo? Better yet..Do Nothing? Enjoy Amnesty for free.

Do you think illegals within will embrace the "path to citizenship" or travel the trusty short cut?
