LIARS - But We Knew That

Seems that Democrats forget their campaign promises before they even take over the reins:

As they prepare to take control of Congress this week and face up to campaign pledges to restore bipartisanship and openness, Democrats are planning to largely sideline Republicans from the first burst of lawmaking.

House Democrats intend to pass a raft of popular measures as part of their well-publicized plan for the first 100 hours. They include tightening ethics rules for lawmakers, raising the minimum wage, allowing more research on stem cells and cutting interest rates on student loans.

But instead of allowing Republicans to fully participate in deliberations, as promised after the Democratic victory in the November 7 midterm elections, Democrats now say they will use House rules to prevent the opposition from offering alternative measures, assuring speedy passage of the bills and allowing their party to trumpet early victories.

Wow, couldn't see that coming.

JASmius adds: Well, that's how the Democrats always ran the House when they controlled it before; why would they run it any differently now?

What I'm wondering is how the Republican remnant feels about this. Are Boehner, Blunt & Co. going to raise hell about it? Are they going to start on the 2008 campaign to take the House back again by highlighting this trademark double-cross and what it illustrates about what crooks and scoundrels the Democrats really are? Or are they going to do like their pre-1994 counterparts did and meekly sit on the back bench and do what they're told like nice little eunuchs, the better to make their tee times?

For all that we on the center-right made light of left-wing anger for all these years, when all was said and done it got them their power back - with a lot of GOP help. The question going forward will be will we now get mad, the better to get even, or keep helping them?
