Dem Lyin' Dogs
Democrats make me sick, and the outrageous language they are using in advance of the Petraeus report should make every American furious...except of course for the leftist Moonbats who hate their country and their President as much as their leadership does. Here's the latest example of Democrat treachery:
Harry Reid isn’t waiting to hear General Petraeus’ testimony. He’s already decided that General Petraeus’ testimony is White House spin:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, said in his party’s weekly radio address today that he expects the Petraeus report to be nothing more than the Bush Administration’s selective take on the surge.
“Before the report arrives in Congress, it will pass through the White House spin machine, where facts are often ignored or twisted, and intelligence is cherry-picked,” said Reid.
Reid is implying that General Petraeus will say whatever President Bush tells him to. Senator Reid is also implying that President Bush will order Gen. Petraeus to cherry-pick the information so that General Petraeus’ report won’t accurately portray what’s happening in Iraq. As disgusting as that Reid accusation is, it isn’t the most disgusting quote. Here’s the most disgusting quote from Reid:
“He has made a number of statements over the years that have not proven to be factual,” Reid said. “I have every belief that this good man will give us what he feels is the right thing to do in his report, but it’s not his report anymore. It’s Bush’s report.”
The first quote just implied that General Petraeus would lie for President Bush. This time, Senator Reid says that General Petraeus has a history of lying. What’s disgusting about neither quote is backed up with any proof of the accusations. What proof does Reid have that General Petraeus has lied? It appears that Senator Reid hasn’t learned that allegations aren’t proof.
Reid is an imbecile who should be washing dishes in some greasy spoon diner, not representing the people of the United States in the Senate. He's not fit to lick the boots of General Petraeus, yet he finds it necessary to demean his honor and character in order to further his power at all costs agenda. There is more of the same in this article, if you have the stomach for it.
It would really be refreshing if some hack like Chris Matthews would ask, "Senator Reid, what proof do you have that the White House is telling General Petraeus what to say in this report?" Yeah, like THAT'S gonna happen. That would require integrity, something which Chris Matthews does not have. Hey, maybe we can get Geraldo "What a Man!" Rivera to stop threatening women long enough to ask a serious question.
JASmius adds: Given the political stakes in which he and his party are so deeply invested, Dirty Harry really doesn't have any other choice. They spent three and a half years shouting down the Iraqi front of the War Against Islamic Fundamentalism before it finally got them their power back on Capitol Hill. Now they're counting on two more years of the same regaining the White House as well. They voted to confirm General Petraeus in the first place because they were absolutely positive that the "Surge" would fail and it would destroy what was left of the Bush presidency - perhaps even be the pretext they'd need to kick off the impeachment process. The last thing on Earth they counted on was Petraeus' strategy succeeding. So they're playing the only propaganda card they have left: use Bush's unpopularity to discredit Petraeus and put over the lie that the "Surge" is a failure.
Problem is, even the New York Times and a handful of Dems have conceded that precisely the opposite is true. It isn't arguable. On both the security and political fronts, Iraq is vastly improving, al Qaeda is being routed, and Iranian-backed Shiite militias are in retreat. Public support for the effort is rekindling. Reid and his party risk making it obvious that they are trying to legislate a catastrophic American defeat in Iraq that will get countless more American civilians killed here at home, as happened almost six years ago.
There is an old saying: "You dance with the one that brought you." That's what Dirty Harry & Co. may have opted to do, even if it causes them to turn into pumpkins at political midnight.
UPDATE: Hmmm...should we listen to these guys, or Senator Reid?
