Remember the jerk who threw a pie at Bill Kristol at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana? He is awaiting a hearing for assault regarding that, and has landed himself in trouble again. This time Josh Medlin, a religion major, has been arrested, along with 24 others, regarding a protest against expanding I-69 in Indianapolis. These supposed adults spraypainted slogans on the Statehouse, one of which said, "I-69 is the Enemy." What kind of weird, convoluted thinking is that? As far as I can gather, these kooks are upset that I-69 will eventually be extended into Texas to provide a direct trucking route from Canada to Mexico. One of the arrested protesters said that the I-69 expansion, along with the North American Free Trade Agreement, will "expand dependency." Of course, the poor are going to be exploited again by progress.
Medlin is seen in our fair city on a regular basis in front of the City Building, along with 3-4 others, holding up a banner that says, "Peace On Earth." They stand there for a couple of hours, hold hands in a circle for a while, then leave.
I live about 1/2 mile from Earlham College, and it is notoriously leftist. It is a Quaker college, so you can imagine their comments regarding the War on Terror. You see bumperstickers such as "No One Ever Died In The Name Of Wicca" and "I'm Pro-Choice and I Vote" and "Love Your Mother" with a picture of the earth...well, you get the picture. One of our passtimes when we lived right next to the college was to watch them walk by in their Birkenstocks and try to guess if it was a woman or a man. Yeah...it's that bad. {g}
