A Glowing Energy Alternative

Wow, this couldn't have been what the greenstremists had in mind from the realization of their long-cherished dream of skyrocketing oil prices:

By a more than 2-to-1 margin, Americans now back the development of nuclear power as an alternative to increasingly expensive energy sources like oil.

The latest Rasmussen survey finds that 55% now want the U.S. to move towards nuclear energy, with just 24% opposed.

That's a dramatic jump from just last month, when the margin supporting the nuclear option was 44% to 35%.

Sixty-four percent say that developing new sources of energy must be a priority in any long term solution to the energy crisis, with a mere 26% saying energy conservation should play a leading role.

Even Democrats, who have traditionally backed environmentalists who oppose nuclear power, now support going nuclear - 52% to 26%.

Jane Fonda must be sobbing in her wrinkle cream - in addition to the irony of the aforelinked movie's name, given the country that is most driving up the world demand for petroleum....
