Yet Another Dumb Statement

This time from Senator Daniel Inouye:

Today, Senator Daniel Inouye, the Ranking Member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee and a recipient of the Medal of Honor for his service in World War II, released the following statement:

"As a Veteran of World War II, I know what it’s like to fight a war and put your life on the line every day. I also know what it takes to win a war, and I know that politics and an attack machine like the President’s plays no part in it.

"The Republican Party’s latest ad is a shameful and disgusting attempt to distract the American people from the problems in Iraq. It may improve the President’s political fortunes, but the American people and our troops will pay the price. I hope that President Bush realizes how shameful it is to play politics when what we really need is leadership, and that he will direct his Party to take down this ad immediately."

As John Hinderaker so eloquently says, the Democrats aren't TALKING about winning. And does he REALLY want to talk about an "attack machine" and "playing politics?" What does he call the constant undermining of our President and our troops by his own party?

Geez, these guys really have no shame.

JAS adds: Another case of blatant projection. Democrats make repeated shameful and disgusting attempts to distract the American people from the successes in Iraq, and now that the GOP is finally fighting back with the truth, they're all sore about it. Republicans are daring to tread on a field of debate that Donks have had to themselves for the better part of two and a half years and the latter's imperious entitlement mentality can't handle it. Plus they know that with the Iraqi electoral trifecta imminent and Iraqi security forces taking over more and more self-defense responsibility, time is running out on their retreat/defeat fables, the political relevance of which is about to have a proverbial trap door opened beneath it.

Dems have played politics with the war from day one, and now they're confronted with an endgame of their own words that they cannot deny. No wonder Inouye sounded like an imbecile.
