Broken "Promised Land"

In II Corinthians 12:7, the Apostle Paul writes:

Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me - to keep me from exalting myself!
That's how I see Pat Robertson - as the designated thorn in the flesh of modern Christiandom.

Just contemplate this sequence of events:

1) Robby publicly declares that maybe the massive stroke suffered by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was God's well-deserved punishment for coughing up the Gaza strip to the enemies of God's chosen people;

2) The Israelis get all pissed (Who could have predicted that...?) and retaliate by spiking a $50 million Christian-themed tourism center a Robertson-led group of evangelical venture capitalists was seeking to construct in Galilee, where our LORD conducted His public ministry during His First Coming;

3) Only then do the scales fall from Robby's eyes and he become contrite and repentant, as he profusely apologized yesterday. Only you have to wonder about that, because he used the term that every public figure does when backpedaling from a public relations uproar over something they said that they still fundamentally believe: "inappropriate". Like there is an appropriate way of saying that Prime Minister Sharon had that cerberal hemorrhage coming to him for doing the devil's work.

Rev'rund Pat should just have kept quiet. Even standing "pat" on his initial statement and taking the loss of "Promised Land" would have been better than leading the unsaved to believe that there's a Scripture passage wherein it is written, "SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!!"

In the meantime, he might want to review Matthew 6:24 and Luke 16:13 before the next board meeting.
