HT-TV

This is the state of our media today:

From Real Time with Bill Maher last night:

DAN SENOR: For three decades we’ve been told by the foreign policy establishment that people in the Arab world don’t want the right to vote, they don’t want to live in a free society—

HELEN THOMAS: They’ve never been told that [Actually, yes, they have].

SENOR:—and, and we’ve been consistently told that, just like we were told about the Russians, just like we were told about the Chinese and the fact is, when we’ve given the Afghanis the vote—

THOMAS: They don’t want to be invaded; they don’t want to be killed. (applause) [Which time? By the Taliban or by us?]

SENOR: Ok. But when we give—

THOMAS: And they don’t want to be forced, they can be The Grateful Dead. [Hey, Helen made a funny! Let's give her a big hand along with her medicine!]

SENOR: When we give Afghanis and Iraqis the right to vote, they turned out in the millions and millions, in the last election 11 million Iraqis—

THOMAS: You have no right to give these people whatever. They are a sovereign nation [We merged Afghanistan and Iraq?], you invaded them without any cause [9/11?], they did nothing to us [9/11?]. (applause) I think it’s terrible to invade a country that did nothing to us and did not attack us. [Apart from 9/11. Which was launched, apparently, by Iraqistan.]

SENOR: Did you think that it was a good thing or a bad thing that millions, and millions, and millions of people who lived in tyranny now can go to the ballot box.

THOMAS: I think that it would be a good thing if would say how many thousands of people you killed.

Not much more to say, is there? They did nothing to us, we just attacked them so we could kill them. Kinda takes your breath away, doesn't it?

JASmius adds, besides the bracketed fun above: I don't think Helen Thomas' brain has been getting much oxygen for years now as it is, actually....
