Legal vs. Illegal
[posted by John Sims]
Let's think about this:
If you don't like someone to steal from you, does that mean you're not generous enough to give anything to anybody else?
If you don't want people breaking into your house, does that mean you'll never accept guests?
If you object to somebody stealing from you, and the thief turns out to be black, does your objection mean you're racist?
My wife and daughter are immigrant US citizens (from two different countries). I have no problem with immigration, but comparing illegal aliens to legal immigrants is like equating the pairs displayed above. If I object to a Hispanic killing me, or robbing my home, this doesn't indicate a general hostility to Hispanics.
Sure American employers like to save money on cheap illegal labor ... drug dealers like to make money selling illegal drugs. Their income benefits, however, don't relate to whether these things ought to be legal or not.
