SIGH....

Well, I have been pretty much avoiding the conservative blogs for the past couple of days because I'm so sick of the Chicken Little attitude that all is lost and America is down the tubes because of the President's speech on immigration. Polipundit is certainly off my favorites list. He lost me when he said everything coming out of Bush's mouth was a lie. What a stupid thing to say...sounds like something you'd hear over at DailyKos.

Seems to me there has been even more over-reaction to this than there was to the Harriet Miers nomination. As far as immigration is concerned, we're not going to get everything we want right away. It's just not going to happen. We have to win in increments. We learned that with the pro-life movement. The President gave an outline of what he would like to see, now they have to debate in Congress and come up with a viable plan. I think he knows that in an election year, and with public sentiment the way it is on this subject, the real conservatives will step forward and make sure that plans like the one that just came out of the Senate will not become law.
