Wow, Jim's still out of commission. To paraphrase Pain and Panic in Hercules, "He's not gonna be happy when he gets back here!" Come back soon, Jim, I'm not as good at this as you are!! :-)
I was thinking yesterday about the strange way people vote. Look at the states which have some of the biggest cities, therefore the biggest terrorist targets. They send people to Washington, D.C. who are determined to undermine President Bush's efforts to protect them. Look at Massachusetts, home of Boston - Kerry and Kennedy. Illinois, with Chicago a glittering, tempting target? Obama and Durbin. California? Feinstein, Boxer, Waters, etc. New York is the biggest puzzle. Hillary might have voted to authorize the war, but she's done everything in her power since then to undermine the effort. And don't even get me started on that waste of skin Chuck Schumer. You'd think the voters in these areas would think a little more about self-preservation.
JASmius adds: I'm not out of commission; in fact, I've finally got my home network fully functional for the first time in a year and a half. And all it took was as three hundred dollar backplane/processor upgrade, a forty-nine dollar ethernet router to replace the piece-'o-junk old one I pulled off the office scrapheap, and about ten days, much of which was spent standing around at the shop waiting for the damn machine to finally be fixed.
What I am is coming off a week's vacation just as our administrative assistant/internal coordinator went on vacation, meaning I'm both catching up and taking up her slack as well. Doesn't leave a whole lot of time for the level of concentration (and research) needed for quality blogging.
Also, Jen, dinna think there's not more than one kind of quality blogging. Your slack-taking over the past week has been invaluable and much appreciated. It is part & parcel of why I wanted to build a group blog - to showcase different styles and perspectives of center-right commentary.
Besides, your posts generate as many, if not more, comments than mine do, and with a lot fewer keystrokes. There's something to be said for efficiency....;{)>
