Violence!
Did you know that a left-wing fever swamper tried to assault Senator George Allen the other day?
Oh, that part didn't get reported at first. This was the initial story:
At first glance, this looks like just the latest feeble, puerile swipe the NeoBolsheviks have taken at Senator Allen in what has become one of the filthiest serial smear campaigns in American political history. It almost doesn't necessitate mentioning that Allen's former wife, Anne Waddell, issued a statement calling Stark's question "a baseless, cheap shot." I guess the nutters could accuse Allen of clubbing baby seals in his spare time, but next-door neighbor (and quite possibly near-future senate colleague) Michael Steele already pre-empted that slur several commercials back.
But leave us not forget that the criminally insane are also multitaskers, as Stark immediately claimed victim status after Allen's security staffers took him down. Goons! Thugs! Violence for the sake of violence! And all to "stamp out dissent" against the Repugnican Nazi Fascist totalitarian doo-doo heads of which Senator Allen is the poster boy. After, you know, George Bush and Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld. And besides, Allen is Jew, and all Jews just HAVE to be Republicans because they're the focus of evil in the modern world, despite the fact that they still vote mainly for Democrats.
As Quickdraw McGraw used to say, "Hoooooold on thar!" Turns out that the shoving and fisticuffs were not initiated by the Allenites:
Perhaps Stark had more in mind than just "spitting" in Senator Allen's face? And if not this time, what about the next? There's a growing history of this sort of thing from the far Left going back at least to the home stretch of the 2004 campaign, as has been fairly well documented here. At any rate, it's arriving in this home stretch right on schedule.
Now if it's campaign goonery you want, look not to Virginia, but a couple of states north:
A political operative physically attacking a reporter for asking his candidate a few tough but fair questions - and he's a Democrat. Imagine that. Now imagine the Enemy Media eruption if Casey had been a Republican.
Now imagine turning Congress back over to such people, who reserve their hostility and aggression only for those they view as their true enemies.
And I don't mean Islamist terrorists.
Oh, that part didn't get reported at first. This was the initial story:
Mike Stark, a liberal blogger and first-year University of Virginia law student, approached Allen at an event in Charlottesville, loudly asking, "Why did you spit at your first wife, George?" according to witnesses.
Three men, all wearing blue Allen lapel stickers, immediately grabbed Stark, dragged him backward and slung him to the carpet outside a hotel meeting room, according to video captured by WVIR-TV in Charlottesville.
Allen's campaign said in a news release that Stark "aggressively went after Senator Allen ... screaming that he answer inappropriate questions."...
In a Monday posting on "Calling All Wingnuts," the blog Stark publishes, he hinted that he would attempt to provoke Allen before the TV cameras.
"Im also trying to `Roger and Me' George Allen whenever I can," Stark wrote, referring to director Michael Moore's 1989 documentary in which he repeatedly tried to confront former General Motors' chief executive Roger Smith about the company's downsizing.

The Allen campaign website has posted footage which indisputably shows the Kos Kid precipitating the conflict by shoving an Allen security guard out of the way and then getting into the Senator’s grill. It’s a safe bet that if Allen had a Secret Service detachment, the Kos Kid right now would be not just a hero and victim to his fellow Nutroots travelers, but also a martyr.

Columnist Stephen Morse of the Daily Pennsylvanian greeted Bob Casey with a few questions yesterday when Casey arrived to speak at the University of Pennsylvania. Morse tried to get a comment from Casey about the cancellation of John Kerry's scheduled appearance with Casey. Morse also asked Casey questions about what Morse views as Casey's underreported pro-life stance.
Morse reports that for his efforts he got an elbow to the stomach from Casey campaign spokesman Larry Smar.
