Terror Plot Foiled

Thank God. Sounds like this would have been a really devastating attack had they been able to follow through with it. Do you think the news analysis will include the part the Patriot Act played in this? Or give George W. Bush any credit?

Rhetorical questions, of course.

Now, I'm going to make a prediction. The inmates over at the Democratic Underground and/or Daily Kos will say this was staged by Bush and Rove to draw attention away from the rift within the Republican Party over the immigration bill. Mark my words.

Okay, I'll admit it. That prediction was about has hard to make as predicting where Ted Kennedy will be at Happy Hour.

JASmius adds: When actually it was a plot by Bush and Rove to prove that we can already stop terrorist plots and thus we don't need a border fence or any other security measures, so let's get "comprehensive immigration reform" passed, already.

In all seriousness, a plot? No. But the rest is just how McCain-Kennedy II proponents will spin it.

UPDATE: To summarize Allahpundit's updates....

***The plot involved a plan to blow up a jet-fuel pipeline at JFK airport, setting off a potential massive explosion.

***The Enemy Media didn't start covering it until Fox News picked up the story. Guess they don't want to publicize terrorist plots unless they succeed and they can blame them on Bush.

***Three of the four plotters (Russell Defreitas, Abdul Nur, Kareem Ibrihim and Abdul Kadir) have very....Muslim-sounding names. One of them - Defreitas - is described as a "very angry Muslim extremist."

***CBS was quick to pooh-pooh any al Qaeda connection. Too quick, as it turns out:

FBI agents feared but never confirmed the three men accused of plotting to attack John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York were linked to one of the most wanted al Qaeda leaders, Adnan Shukrijumah, known to have operated out of Guyana and Trinidad.

Officials tell the Blotter on ABCNews.com that they heard repeated references to “Adnan” during the extensive wiretaps conducted on the suspects’ telephone conversations, including calls to Guyana and Trinidad....

***The plot probably wouldn't have worked, but with the "JFK Four"'s other connections, other plots very well could have.

All it takes is one....
