Disgusting Democrats

If you want to get your blood pressure up, read this Wall Street Journal editorial about the seditious creeps in the Democratic Party who find it more important to discredit President Bush than gather intelligence on our enemies. Here's the last paragraph:

This episode is most distressing for what it reveals about the unseriousness of our political class. Democrats so loathe the Bush Administration that they are willing to throw away one of our best weapons in the war against al Qaeda. It's long past time the President stopped pleading with Congress, and started explaining this outrage to the American people.

You need to read the whole article and see how the Democrats continue to put up roadblocks regarding listening in on potential terrorist conversations. As the writer said earlier, they are more concerned about offending MoveOn.org than perhaps uncovering intelligence that could potentially save American lives. Patrick Leahy is a lower than a pregnant cockroach's belly, and he has a lot of company.

JASmius adds: Oh, we're just getting started with the American branch of the Castro-Chavez axis. Here I'll just add what Mike McConnell, the Director of National Intelligence, had to say about the bill the Dems did come up with before putting it on the back burner:

I have reviewed the proposal that the House of Representatives is expected to vote on this afternoon to modify the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. The House proposal is unacceptable, and I strongly oppose it.

The House proposal would not allow me to carry out my responsibility to provide warning and to protect the Nation, especially in our heightened threat environment.

I urge Members of Congress to support the legislation I provided last evening to modify FISA and to equip our Intelligence Community with the tools we need to protect our Nation.
I'll say it again: the Democrats want another 9/11 or worse so they can blame it on President Bush and "his" war in Iraq and run the table in November 2008. They're willing, even eager, to offer up the lives of their "fellow" Americans to bin Laden in order to entrench themselves in power for good.

UPDATE: Well, except for seventeen of them in the U.S. Senate, who yielded to the continuing stalwart mettle of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell tonight and voted for FISA legislation co-sponsored by McConnell and Missouri's Kit Bond that will actually do what Director McConnell says has to be done to protect the nation from future al Qaeda attacks.

In essence, Senator McConnell has imposed upon Crazy Nancy an excruciating choice:

So what are Pelosi’s options? She could bring up the bill as is, with no amendments, and call for a vote. Considering the number of Democrats in the Senate who helped it pass, it's almost certain to pass the House. But if Pelosi plays games with this, or if one comma is changed in the House version, the bill would have to go to a conference committee, which can’t now happen anytime soon because the Senate has recessed. They’ve done their job. Pelosi has to pass the bill as is. We hope she sees this and does what’s better for the country than satisfying her ACLU base.

Here’s her conundrum, however. If Pelosi does push this bill through, which she almost certainly has to, she will send her members home after the vote for their August recess to face a base that will be just as angry, just as ramped up as the Republican base by and large was during the recent immigration debate. Will she have the courage to stand up to her kook fringe and do what’s right? Will she be able to regain control of the reins of the House of Representatives after she so badly mismanaged it this week? Or is she so beholden to powerful lobbies within the Democratic base that she will turn her back on the national security of the country to placate the left wing fringe?

Tic, tac, toe, three rhetorical questions in a row.

Maybe Trent Lott's attempt at humor today wasn't in such bad taste after all.
