More "Objective Journalism"

According to Drudge, “Boston Globe reporter Mike Kranish made waves on Friday by reporting "a key figure in the anti-Kerry campaign, Kerry's former commanding officer, backed off one of the key contentions.” This contention is that Kerry was undeserving of the silver star he received for shooting a fleeing VC guerrilla in the back.

Swiftboat Veterans for Truth quickly responded:

Captain George Elliott describes an article appearing in today’s edition of the Boston Globe by Mike Kranish as extremely inaccurate and highly misstating his actual views. He reaffirms his statement in the current advertisement paid for by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, Captain Elliott reaffirms his affidavit in support of that advertisement, and he reaffirms his request that the ad be played.

Additional documentation will follow.

The article by Mr. Kranish is particularly surprising given page 102 of Mr. Kranish’s own book quoting John Kerry as acknowledging that he killed a single, wounded, fleeing Viet Cong soldier whom he was afraid would turn around.

So let’s add up this latest fracas. A BG “reporter” writes a blatantly mendacious story completely fabricating a retraction on the part of the Boston Balker’s commanding officer in ‘Nam in order to try and discredit the over two-hundred and fifty “brothers” who were witnesses to the events on which he is staking his presidential candidacy. But as they say on TNA promos, “That’s not all!”

Mike Kranish has been commissioned to write the forward of the official Kerry-Edwards campaign book at the same time that he is covering the campaign in an official capacity as a “journalist” for the Globe.

But there’s still ABSOLUTELY NO liberal bias in the partisan…er, that is, “mainstream” {snicker} press. Just brazen, in-your-face conflict of interest.

Remember when Newsweek’s Evan Thomas let his brain turn to clam sauce and admitted not only the existence of this flagrant left-wing tilt, but that it could bulldoze the election as much as fifteen points toward Kerry? Looks like that’s the only thing keeping Mr. French in this race.
