Generalissimo Rodham
Ann Lewis says Hillary Clinton is the next Douglas MacArthur.
Or something like that.
When she runs for president, New York Senator Hillary Clinton will do a better job than John Kerry did of convincing Americans that she'll keep the nation safe from terrorist attacks and other national security threats, Clinton's top political strategist said Friday."The first and crucial step for the Democrats to regain the public trust and confidence is to make clear that people can have confidence in us that we will keep them safe," HillPAC communications director Ann Lewis told the Jewish Forward.
If Hillary wants to accomplish that, she's going to have to switch parties.
Clinton "has a coherent approach to national security that can serve as a model," Lewis boasted, without explaining how the former first lady intended to handle questions about her husband's failure to take terrorism seriously when she was his chief adviser.
Or explaining what this "coherent approach" is. Surrender, after all, is "coherent." Just ask the French.
Instead, insisted Lewis, Senator Clinton has "established herself as an unquestioned supporter of Israel…
Was that before or after she kissed Yassir Arafat? You know, if she did so now, he'd probably smell better.
…and bolstered her security credential[s]" by serving on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
That's like a Christian Scientist having dinner at the hospital cafeteria and then barging into the operating room and demanding to perform thoracic surgery.
The senior Clintonista also blasted Senator John Kerry, who continues to hint that he'll make a 2008 White House bid, for what Lewis said was "basically an inconsistent [2004] campaign ... [with] a different message frame every two or three weeks."
Wow, Mimi Bobeck broadsides Thurston Howell IV. As if Lurch doesn't get enough of that from Teraaaaaaaaaaaaayza.
Noting that team Kerry "kept trying to rationally convince, to put a presidency together, line by line, plan by plan," Lewis said that people "don't vote for plans, they vote for presidents."
And that is why Mrs. Clinton will win in 2008.
It's not about credentials or experience or expertise; it's about making enough voters believe that they don't matter. In 2008 national security will not be a major issue because the Bush Doctrine will have succeeded in rendering it less important. Sufficiently, at least, for the Clinton machine to make a case for declaring victory and turning the page back to domestic affairs.
That strategy could have worked in 2004 if the Left hadn't been collectively insane with Bush-hatred, and John Kerry had been a strong enough personality to impose it on his party and make it stick.
Mrs. Clinton will have no problems doing so because, after eight years shut out of power, the Donks will be sufficiently hungry to take their crypto-Marxism back under cloak and allow their goddess to cheat and scam them back to the political promised land.
Still, it might not hurt her to put on a General Patton costume, complete with Colt-45s, and pose in front of a giant American flag.
Heck, I'd make a small donation to see it.
