Randi Of The Redwoods Strikes Again

Now the Air Scamerica hostess, who apparently is attempting to overshadow better known "colleague" Al Franken in the idiocy sweepstakes, has come out of favor of looting:

In a broadcast yesterday, Air America radio talk radio host Randi Rhodes repeatedly urged listeners in the hurricane-devastated Gulf Coast to go out and loot, insisting the poor should be allowed to steal goods at will.

The leftist host, who has sparked controversy in the past for advocating the assassination of President Bush, said hurricane victims should avoid discount centers such as Wal*Mart and focus their looting on higher-end stores in order to get good quality products, according to Ned Rice, a contributor to National Review Online's weblog "The Corner."
This, of course, clashes with the left-wing castigation of the President for failing to prevent last week's looting, even though that is by law a state/local function. I guess it's an implicit concession that federal troops are now on the ground in force in the Big Easy, which means that since there's no more hay to be made from blaming Bush for the looting, now the Left can switch to class warrior mode and become its biggest advocate. In their minds they can't lose from that, since, if they were to succeed in sparking a(nother) New Orleans insurrection, either (1) looting would be taking place despite the federal troop presence, enabling libs to condemn Bush for weakness and incompetence, or (2) federal troops would put it down with inevitable accompanying violence, after which the DisLoyal Opposition could shriek that the "Bush police state" they've warned of for the past four and a half years has finally revealed itself.

Not that long ago I would have said my capacity for political cynicism was inexhaustible. Now I'm not so sure.

No wonder my wife is calling me a "grouch" so much lately.
