Great Point!
Kathryn Lopez over at the Corner makes a terrific point today regarding Rosa Parks and her funeral:
And why does the Left get to claim Rosa Parks? Brave American. Inspiring American. Does she need to become a liberal icon? Condi Rice is the walking legacy of Rosa Parks—a woman who as a girl had to walk on the other side of the street as white. Today she is Secretary of State and being buzzed about as a presidential contender. For goodness sake. Sometimes life is about more than partisan politics. That's an obvious point for most Americans—you know, normal people. Foreign to anyone who considers drinks at the Capital Grille a night at home.
Why, indeed? It is the LEFT who is trying to "keep blacks on the plantation." It is the LEFT who continually tells them they can't reach their potential, blaming oppression and Republicans when it is THEY who oppose school vouchers which keep their kids in inferior schools, it is THEY who continually want more and more handouts in order to continue the cycle of dependency started by the New Deal, it is THEY who have in the past encouraged young black females to act like brood mares by paying them more for each illegitimate child. This, among other things, has resulted in a 64% illegitimate birth rate among blacks. That, of course, is a big reason for the high poverty level among blacks. So do thugs like Sharpton and Jackson encourage black families to rise up and do their best, achieve their potential, work towards their goals? No! They encourage them to blame white folks and corporations for their troubles. In short, they NEED blacks to be dependent, otherwise there would be no need for THEM.
They should be holding up Condi Rice and Clarence Thomas as examples for the black community. Instead, look what we get. They used Rosa Parks' funeral as a political tool, just as they used Paul Wellstone's. They really do have no shame.
