Chutzpah With A Twang
That's the only word for this:
Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards says Jesus would be appalled at how the United States has ignored the plight of the suffering, and that he believes children should have private time to pray at school.
Edwards, in an interview with the Web site Beliefnet.com, said Jesus would be most upset with the selfishness of Americans and the country's willingness to go to war "when it's not necessary."
"I think that Jesus would be disappointed in our ignoring the plight of those around us who are suffering and our focus on our own selfish short-term needs," Edwards told the site. "I think he would be appalled, actually."
Funny how the Democrats "find God" when it's convenient. Who exactly is Edwards talking about here? Who are the selfish ones? Apparently he is unaware of the billions in foreign aid America spends. Maybe he has forgotten about the endless social programs in this country for the unfortunate. I guess when you're a multimillionaire who is building a $5 million mansion, you don't have time to really find out about such things.
I found a letter to the editor from one of his fellow North Carolinians:
I read with interest the article about John Edwards' mansion being constructed and being deemed as a possible "Southern" White House. It states that Edwards does not like to talk about it and Jennifer Palmer, his adviser, doesn't think that voters are that interested.
Edwards stresses an antipoverty message and builds a mansion that already has a worth greater than any other house in the county. Well, Jennifer, I am interested. Anyone who can build such an elaborate display of wealth in a state that has as many impoverished counties as North Carolina in it gets my attention. And as we all know, Edwards was a trial attorney and made millions off the clients he represented in court (in case you don't know, most attorneys get 30% or more of the settlement). The folks he represented were normal folks like you and me, yet he took their money with his hypocritical smile. Now if that's not calling the kettle black I don't know what is. Would I vote for him? No.
Frankly, Mr. Edwards, I think Jesus would be appalled at the daily slaughtering of the unborn in this country. I think He would be upset about a group of people wanting to pervert the sacred institution of marriage as set forth in the Bible. What are your positions there, Mr. Edwards? And while we're talking about the less fortunate, why are you so unconcerned about those who were being raped and murdered by a ruthless dictator in Iraq that you regret your vote to authorize the President to stop it?
Spare us your fake concern about what Jesus thinks. You can't pull it off.
JASmius adds: Sic semper faggotis....?
UPDATE: Okay, how about, "It is easier to feed John Edwards (backwards) through the eye of a needle than to get Ann Coulter into next year's CPAC"....?
