Good New Is No News
From Brit Hume's Political Grapevine:
The news from Iraq that violence in Baghdad is down just one month into the new security crackdown didn't make a dent in most major newspaper front pages — and was buried in many.
The New York Times had it on page 16 today. The L.A. Times page 6, and the Chicago Tribune page 10. The decrease was mentioned in Wednesday's Washington Post on page 9 and the Boston Globe's page 13.
On the broadcast networks there was a brief mention on NBC's nightly newscast — but we could not find any reference on the ABC or CBS evening news shows.
Gosh, I wonder where the coverage would have been if there had been an increase in violence in Baghdad?
JASmius adds: Get a load of this:
Death threats from pacifists. What a concept.
These people aren't really pacifists. Pacifists don't want anybody to fight anybody, and are willing to die themselves for their beliefs. To neoBolsheviks, they don't consider retreat from Iraq to be "us" losing, because they have separated themselves from "us." They want Americans to die, as long as it's the "right" Americans, and are perfectly willing to let the Islamists do their killing for them. As far as they're concerned, that's not "us" losing, but "them" winning.
More to the point, the Left wants America to die, so that they can scoop up the pieces and rule over them forever. Which goes to show that they - whether in newsrooms or on network "news"casts or in the nutroots or picketing on Crazy Nancy's front lawn (or on Capitol Hill) - do not consider themselves to be Americans, because they appear to think that somehow they, as good dhimmis, will be spared when the terrorist maelstrom descends.
Our country is held in the grip of treasonous, extremist suicide fetishists, with no reason to believe they'll be ousted any time soon.
I wonder if that sage, if obvious, observation will earn me a death threat.
Hey, why should Drudge have all the "fun"?

All right, we got news from Kuwait. “The rate of killings of US troops in Iraq has been on the decline, down by 60%, since the launch of the new security measures in Baghdad, according to statistics revealed by the Multi-National Force -Iraq Combined Press Information Centre. Only 17 members of the US military in Iraq have been killed since February 14 till March 13, compared to 42 from January 13 to February 13; the rate was on the decline during the first month of the security crackdown,” called the surge. So the bottom line here is the surge is working.
I hope I'm not speaking out of school, but Matt Drudge sent me an e-mail this morning. After he posted this story he started getting death threats and hate mail from kooks accusing him of lying and putting out this kind of news. Drudge said, “You know, it wasn't until I started getting all these that I actually realized that you are right. They do want to lose.” [emphases added]
