Black Republicans
[Posted by Kay Ryan]
President Bush's black support grew from 9% in 2000 to 11% in 2004...a 22% improvement despite his being villified by [the Extreme] media and Democrats for four years. In Ohio, where Republican black voters grew from 9% to 16%, mainly because of the gay marriage issue, the Buckeye State essentially handed GW Bush a second term. In response to the new interest by black voters, the Republican Party has endorsed several high level black candidates who could make November 2006 and 2008 a wake up call for the Democratic Party, whose grip at long last is slipping on the previously guaranteed 90% support by black voters nationwide.
And the nominees ARE:
*Lieutenant-Governor Michael Steele, Maryland....Senate
*Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, Ohio....Governor
*Lynn Swann, ex-Pittsburgh Steeler, Pennsylvania....Governor
*Keith Butler, former councilman Detroit, Michigan....Senate
Question: What Social Issues will convince blacks to vote for a black Republican?
