Patriot Act Renewal Passes

It was close in the House, but the Patriot Act renewal has passed and will be signed by President Bush before Friday, when some of its most important provisions were to expire. The breakdown was 214 Republicans and 66 Democrats for, and 13 Republicans, 124 Democrats and one Independent against. Nice to see that in an election year nearly 2/3 of Democrats were willing to strip the Patriot Act of the provisions that have made it possible for our country to be safe for the last 5 years.
