In Al's Footsteps

Wasn't it about this far after the 2000 election that Al Gore emerged from his self-imposed, and deeply appreciated, exile to go publicly, officially, and certifiably insane? So is it all that surprising that John Kerry is giving every indication of having gone off the deep end himself? Both in reviving the kerfuffle over his mythical Vietnam War exploits and now going verbally postal in an "off-the-record" conversation with Bolshevik bloggers:

Kerry agreed completely with someone’s assessment that everything that Bush does is solely for the purpose of looting the country. He basically said that Bush and his cohorts are criminals and that history will judge them so. He said that he believes that the pendulum will swing back and that is why after thirty-five years in politics he is still involved, otherwise he wouldn’t waste his time. He also said that he never stopped fighting after the election, and that he still hasn’t, but I didn’t get to ask why he conceded the next morning, though I wish I had. At some other point he referred to Supreme Court Justices Alito, Scalia, and Roberts as “idiots”.

But, of course, Kerry has "moved on" from his 2004 defeat at the hands of another man he deemed an "idiot." And how selflessly altruistic and public-spirited of him to "waste his time" trying to "swing the pendulum back" for the sake of his "beloved country." Stroking his titanic (and titanically wounded) ego and wielding immense power, of course, have absolutely NOTHING to do with it.

Of course, when Fat Albert thundered, "[BUSH] BETRAYED THIS COUNTRY!!! HE PLAYED ON OUR FEARS!!!!!!" back in the summer of 2002, he didn't do that "off-the-record," so perhaps the boldness of Mr. French is still a tad premature.

What's that saying? "Discretion is the better part of valor when you can scam your purple hearts either way."
