Inside the Mind of Gunga Dan

From the “Things I’d Like to See” Department:

On his final broadcast - the 24th anniversary of when he took over as CBS Evening News anchorman from Walter Cronkite – Dan Rather ended his series of reflections on some of the biggest stories he's covered - this time talking about the September 11th terrorist attacks.

At the close of the broadcast, he signed off with his trademark “Courage” catch-term.

But wouldn’t it have been an absolute hoot if, instead of stubbornly maintaining the ludicrously earnest façade of journalistic objectivity to the bitter end, he’d ended his final newscast by splitting his face into a giant shark’s grin and hissing, “Biassss!” (Think Gowron from Star Trek:)

Flipping the bird to Walter Cronkite, though, would probably have been overdoing things just a bit….
