What the...?

Okay, is it just me, or does this seem like something that shouldn't be broadcast all over the world??

The Bush Administration is planning to use nuclear weapons against Iran, to prevent it acquiring its own atomic warheads, claims an investigative writer with high-level Pentagon and intelligence contacts.

President George W Bush is said to be so alarmed by the threat of Iran's hard-line leader, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, that privately he refers to him as "the new Hitler", says Seymour Hersh, who broke the story of the Abu Ghraib Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal.

Wonder who this guy's "contacts" are? And why is Hersh advertising military plans? This is a long and fairly detailed article, summarizing how, where, and with what the U.S. plans to attack. Hello?

JASmius adds: Let's recall several things.

1) It does not require nuclear weapons to destroy Iran's nuclear weapons program;

2) Regardless of (1), the Bush Administration would never do so other than after a direct or indirect Iranian nuclear attack - and maybe not even then;

3) If Bush was really so "alarmed" about the mullahgarchy (which is the real power behind the throne in Tehran, not the faceman Ahmedinejad), he'd have taken military action against them long before now instead of Kerryesquely deferring to the EUnuchs for the past two years.

Hersh is engaged in two endeavors: (1) Make Bush look like an unstable nuclear madman (in other words, like Ahmedinejad) and (2) deter him from taking any military action to disarm the mullahs.

Reminds me of the old Comintern and its anti-West, pro-"peace" agitating, circa 1939-1941. The difference is, when Hitler attacked the Soviet Union, Western commies backflipped on a dime and became born-again hawks; when Iran has (and uses) its nukes, people like Hersh will eviscerate Bush for letting it happen on his watch.

And the bitterest irony will be that they will be right.
